The camp is also partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg, with a portion of the registrations going to assist the Club’s youth activities.

“Everyone knows how much I love Winnipeg, and how well this city has treated me, and I can’t wait to come back and coach these young players,” said Milt Stegall.

Stegall played 14 years (1995-2008) in the Canadian Football League and was an All-Star receiver for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He held several major CFL records when he retired including most career receiving yards, and currently holds the record for career receiving touchdowns and most touchdowns scored. In 2012 he was elected into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg operate 10 community-based Clubs and numerous youth development programs, offering a safe alternative to the streets during the evening and after-school hours. The focus is on the well-being of children and youth by teaching the importance of healthy living, personal growth and social development.

“Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg is thrilled to partner with the Milt Stegall High Performance Skills Camp. Funds raised from this event will go a long way to provide sport programming to young people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate,” said Ron Brown, President and CEO, Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg. “We are equally thrilled that several of our athletes will be given a chance to participate in the camp and help them to further develop their football and leadership skills.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Milt on his high-performance skill camp,” said Shawn Coates, Executive Director of Football Manitoba. “Any time we can help improve the skills of young athletes with someone as talented as Milt Stegall, we will do so. We are excited about being involved in this worthwhile event.”

UWinnipeg’s United Health and RecPlex is a state-of-the-art facility that opened in September 2014 at 350 Spence Street, with a mandate to serve both students and the broader community.

“This is yet another great opportunity for Wesmen Athletics to partner with our friends in the community,” said Doran Reid, UWinnipeg’s Director of Athletics. “We look forward to working with a living legend and all of the youth that will benefit. It will be a great event and one of many yet to come in our great new facilities.”

“I hope that each participant comes ready to work hard, and learn from the best, because it will be challenging,” said Dale Williams, camp director. “Milt has always said he would only coach if he had 100 Milt Stegall’s, so hopefully we get 100 Milt Stegall’s!”

Camp registration opens in mid-January at Football Manitoba’s website: http://footballmanitoba.com/
