Another Manitoban named to Team Canada coaching staff



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – WEDNESDAY, DEC. 17, 2014

WINNIPEG, MB – Four Manitobans have been chosen by Football Canada to be a part of Canada’s Under-18 National team that will be competing at the 2015 International Bowl series in Arlington, Texas. As well, another Manitoban is among the Team Canada coaching staff.

The four athletes named to Team Canada are Mason Bennett (Winnipeg, MB), Tristan Bredin (Anola, MB), Randall Sanderson (Winnipeg, MB) and Zackary Williams (Winnipeg, MB). Chris Bochen, most recently a coach with the Winnipeg Rifles, will be the offensive line coach for the Canadian side.

Canada's Under-18 roster is comprised of 26 tournament all-stars as well as 14 additional Canada Cup standouts that competed July 6-12 at the 2014 Football Canada Cup in Saskatoon. The event features a week of practices and activities for each level culminating with international competition.

Canada's Under-18 National Team will compete against Team USA on Friday January 30, 2015 at AT&T (Cowboy) Stadium while Canada's U19 National Team will play their U.S. counterparts on Saturday February 7, 2015 at Maverick Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas-Arlington.

Mason Bennett – Bennett is a defensive lineman who most recently played for Vincent Massey High School. Bennett recently won the Kas Vidruk Memorial Award in the Winnipeg High School Football League. The Kas Virduk is awarded annually to a player who is considered a “down lineman” and displays a high standard in playing ability, school citizenship and scholastic standing. Bennett has also accepted a scholarship offer from the University of North Dakota.

Tristan Bredin – Bredin is a defensive lineman who recently starred at Murdoch Mackay High School. He was among the leading tacklers in the John Potter Division (AAA) with 26.

Randall Sanderson – Sanderson is an offensive lineman who most recently played for Sisler High School. He was a standout lineman for the Spartans, who also competed in the John Potter Division (AAA).

Zackary Williams – Williams is an offensive lineman who suited up for the Winnipeg Rifles from the Canadian Junior Football League in 2014. Williams has accepted a scholarship offer from the University of North Dakota.

Chris Bochen – Bochen most recently was the offensive line coach for the Winnipeg Rifles. He was also the offensive line coach for the Manitoba U18 team.
