Annual football festival runs Nov. 1-2 at Investors Group Field

WINNIPEG, MB – Football Manitoba’s Championship Weekend – the annual culminating event of the 2014 amateur football season – is now just one month away. The two-day event will take place Nov. 1-2, 2014 at Investors Group Field.

Championship Weekend celebrates amateur football in Manitoba by featuring more than 600 players from around the province competing in all age-group categories.

Two of the premiere events include the Manitoba Major Football League final the night of Nov. 1 and the Midget Football League of Manitoba final the night of Nov. 2.

The weekend’s activities also include the Old Dutch Crunchers round-robin, a Manitoba Girls Football Association showcase, and four Manitoba Minor Football Association title contests.

“Championship Weekend is always a thrill for players and fans,” said Shawn Coates, Executive Director of Football Manitoba. “It’s a wonderful event to celebrate our game and those who play it. We expect the competition to be fierce.”

This year’s event is special because the weekend will also include the final regular-season game for the Manitoba Bisons, as they face the Calgary Dinos at 2:00 p.m. Nov. 1, 2014.

Fans attending Championship Weekend who wish to also watch the Bisons play, can simply visit ticketmaster.ca and enter the promo code FBMB to purchase a two-for-one deal to the Bison game.

Saturday, November 1, 2014 – Investors Group Field

9:00 AM         Rural 9-Man Challenge

2:00 PM         University of Manitoba Bisons vs. University of Calgary Dinos

6:00 PM         Manitoba Major Football League Championship

Sunday, November 2, 2014 – Investors Group Field

8:00 AM         MMFA – Old Dutch Crunchers Round Robin

11:00 AM       MMFA – Atom Championship

1:30 PM         MMFA – Pee Wee Championship

4:00 PM         MMFA – Bantam Championship (Half Time MGFA Showcase)

7:00 PM         Midget Football League of Manitoba Championship
