Football Manitoba is seeking two (2) Head Coaches for its Under 16 High Performance Teams (U16 Provincial Teams).

The positions are for one-year with the option of a second-year after a Football Manitoba review. The successful candidates will each lead a team that will compete in the 2015 Red River Cup Under-16 Championship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Interested candidates should have at minimum the following qualifications:

  • Three (3) years experience as a football head coach

  • Successful completion of:

  • NCCP Introduction to Competition coaching certification

  • Respect In Sport module

  • Safe Contact module.

  • A demonstrated ability to manage a football coaching staff


SCOPE AND EXPECTATIONS

To be clear, a U16 head coaching position requires significant responsibility and sacrifice. Along with being an on-field coach, a U16 Head Coach is a manager of people, a representative of the province and a mentor to youth.

Football Manitoba will appoint a General Manager to each of its U16 Provincial Teams. The General Manager is the direct link between Football Manitoba and the Head Coach. The Head Coach will answer to their respective General Manager on all aspects of the provincial team program. Ultimately, the Head Coach reports to the Executive Director of Football Manitoba and / or a Football Manitoba High-Performance Committee.

The U16 Head Coaches will be responsible for:

  • Player evaluation & selection

  • Assistant coach selection (based on Football Manitoba-established standards)

  • Practice planning (within the schedule set by Football Manitoba)

  • The behavior of all players, coaches & staff

  • The overall development of football within the province, which includes working cooperatively with Football Manitoba staff and the coaches / staff of the other U16 team


Football Manitoba will be responsible for:

  • The design & outline of the Provincial Team phases

  • Selection Camp dates & facilities

  • Training Camp dates & facilities

  • Support staff selection (General Manager, Athletic Therapist & Equipment Manager)

  • Player eligibility

  • Team budget & financials

  • Jersey design & color

  • Team merchandise

  • Team participation in Red River Cup social activities

  • Rules pertaining to behavior & conduct

ABOUT THE RED RIVER CUP

The Red River Cup Championship is Canada’s largest under-16 football tournament. Established and run annually by Football Manitoba, the event serves as both a high-performance and development opportunity for young athletes. Participants in the Red River Cup often progress to represent their provinces in the Canada Cup – Football Canada’s Under-18 national championship.
